据悉，海斯对自己在季后赛期间角色被削弱、出场时间减少进而影响合同价值的情况感到不满。
从湖人管理层的角度来看，他们正在权衡几个问题：主教练雷迪克是否已经对海斯失去了信心；一旦球队今夏引进新中锋，海斯如何面对自己的替代者，以及他是否能够接受自己被降为边缘角色的现实。
更值得警惕的是，TMZ去年11月曝光的海斯家暴视频引发的联盟调查至今悬而未决，若选择续约这样一名深陷舆论漩涡的球员，湖人必须审慎评估其可能带来的形象风险。
海斯本赛季常规赛共出战56场，其中首发35场，场均19.5分钟的时间里拿到6.8分4.8篮板1助攻0.6抢断0.9盖帽的数据，投篮命中率72.2%，罚球命中率62.2%。
不过到了季后赛他没有获得太多机会，一共出战4场比赛，场均7.6分钟的时间里拿到1.8分2篮板0.3助攻0.3盖帽的数据，投篮命中率骤降至37.5%，罚球命中率50%。
海斯本赛季薪资为246万3946美元，休赛期将成为完全自由球员。
